PostSubject: ‘Forsaken’ is unbroken ( by Nilma DOLE)   Mon Sep 08, 2008 7:36 am

Thanks to an extremely supportive following in dandy Kandy, the dudes of Forsaken have it in themselves to cause quite a stir when they perform their peak onstage. With the likes of Delaine (Silver) on vocals and guitars, super-talented rhythm guitar thrasher Chamil also helps uplift band spirit. Together with Vishan, their drummer dude and Nishantha the bassist Forsaken really knows their essence.

“We are a thrash and speed metal band who got together in July 2005 along with a former member Dineth who played bass for us at that time” says Delaine. They are maniac with the whole 70s to 80s phase with thrash and speed metallic influences ranging from Metallica to Megadeath.

Putting every inch of sweat and effort into their original collections, they have released songs with track titles like ‘Blackened’, ‘Destiny’, ‘Stalking Reality’, ‘Screaming with Vengence’ and an untitled original. “I generally write the songs while the whole band comes up with good riffs to compliment them”, states Delaine.

“It is actually difficult to record properly when you are based in Kandy because of the lack of facilities and sponsors but we are committed to our music and do hope people will realise that metal is a growing industry with a good following” stated the band. They said they are concerned with issues pertaining to personal life struggles, situation of the country and all that’s realistic with nothing of living in a fantasy world.

“We like to convey our message to society through our music about the obstacles we all face as people but we don’t want to be musicians for the sake of money. We put our heart and soul into what we believe is the best” said Delaine. Even though the band comes out with different genres they all infuse as one sole entity and this is the key to the success of their music which is evident in major gigs around town and in Kandy.

“We are very much a clean band and are pretty much ourselves when it comes to rocking onstage”, stated Delaine. They are hoping to release very soon an EP that will really prove that they want to take it high in the metal industry. In other aspects, Delaine and Vishan have jobs while Chamil is following CIM and Nimantha is working at an international company.

Their advice is “If you start in a band, it’s not about being hip or cool, there are lots of things to learn. So be yourself and do what you believe in because being in a rock band is not all about the glory”. Never rival with other bands and learn your music first is what they emphasise. “There are ups and downs in the metal industry but don’t let them get to you and do what you want” says Forsaken.

They acknowledge their family, friends and loyal fans. Says Delaine “My family has been very supportive because at the beginning when we started it was difficult but now it’s all good”. They also thank Madawa and all at KRM (Kandy Rock Merger) including the other bands who have all extended helping hands to them like Chathuranga and Funeral in Heaven, Sohan and Fallen Grace as well as Mackay and Forlorn Hope.

This is great. Forsaken is the Only Thrash band that exists in this country. Just that they should get more opportunities to expose themselves in Colombo cos Kandy already knows who Forsaken is, In and Out.

One unique thing I've seen in these guys is the effort they take to work on new material. I guess, they release a new track almost all the time they go on stage. Quite amazing performance and tight line up I must say. It'll be a real good idea if these guys can work on an album cos, they have enough and more material to do so. And it'll be a good news for all the fans across the country, specially Kandians.

Hails.... cheers

I'v an account at the Metal-Archives page. If someone could give me all the info of bands i could sumbit them without any problem at all. Only thing is that a band has to have some proof of existance, i.e.- a single/demo/album/ep release.

Hey Fuckers,
Why don't you sod off. There are people in this world who appreciate the good that Nilma Dole does and because of you sore losers and your stupid forum comments, they had to stop publicising bands on the Sunday Observer magazine. See even the Sunday Times give a measly piece of space for rock bands in Sri Lanka and nobody puts the rock bands on the cover anymore.
Shit bunch of losers, rot in HELL!
At least have the decency to show some support so that we can put these awesome rock band dudes back in the media. You fuckers are rotten!
